An Idle Story
Chicago, December 4th.
A special from San Francisco was published this morning saying that while Harry Dam, a New York and San Francisco journalist, was at work on the London Star he concocted the "Jack the Ripper" letters which created such a sensation in London in connection with the Whitechapel murders. In reply to the inquiry as to the truth of the story, T. P. O'Conner M. P. who was editor of the Star at the time, says he never heard of the story before and doesn't believe a word of it.
