THE CASE OF DIEMSHIETZ.
The Home Secretary has stated to Mr. W. B. Parker, chairman of a meeting held
to demand the release of the man Diemshietz [Diemschutz], convicted of assault
in connexion with the Berner-street disturbances, that it is contrary to the
practice of the department to receive deputations in criminal cases, but that
any representation in writing on Diemshietz's behalf shall receive his careful
consideration.
