3 August 1889
Alice Mackenzie, the eighth victim of the Whitechapel murderer, has been buried at Plaistow Cemetery. The body was conveyed to the grave in a hearse having glass panels, through which the coffin was seen draped with black coverings. The expenses of the interment were shared between the proprietor of a local public house and the owner of the lodging house in which the woman had lived.
Dr. Forbes Winslow, the well known mad doctor, has told an interviewer that he is prepared shortly to capture the Whitechapel murderer, who he believes to be a religious maniac from the West End.
