16 May 1890

A disciple of London's Jack the Ripper has appeared in Moscow. A man having the appearance of a commissionaire left a parcel lately at the palace of the Governor General of the town, saying it contained some articles ordered at a shop. The parcel when opened was found to contain the head of a woman who had been murdered on the preceding night in a dark street, and whose body had been cut up and placed in two canvas sacks. With the head was a letter, the writer of which said that he and a companion hoped to surpass the atrocities of Jack the Ripper and they had only just begun operations.
