THE WHITECHAPEL FIEND

A Sensational Theory Developed at Elgin, Ill., Regarding His Identity.

Elgin, Ills., Nov. 17.
The stories regarding the Whitechapel fiend and his methods suggests the theory that he is none other than a former inmate of the Elgin insane asylum named Hutchinson. When here he was allowed a good deal of freedom and took a great interest in watching the process of killing animals at the slaughtering house. Six years ago he escaped and murdered a woman of low repute much in the same manner as employed by the Whitechapel ghoul. He was sent to Kankakee asylum, from whence he since escaped and is still at large.
