At the instigation of Superintendent Giles, the F Division of the Metropolitan Police have just formed a brass band of 41 performers and the cost of the instruments, amounting to £250, has been defrayed by the men and their friends. Sir Charles Warren has recently suggested, and the men of the bands of the different divisions have readily fallen in with his views, that they shall perform weekly next season in the various open spaces in the metropolis for the benefit and amusement of the poor, without receiving payment of any kind for their services.
