John Williams

On 15 October a man named John Williams was brought before Chorley magistrates under the following suspicious circumstances. On Saturday night he went into a public-house, and drew from a sheath a long sharp knife, at the same time the man boasted that he was Jack the Ripper and had polished off four victims, and that he meant to do another. A paper was found on him which showed that he had recently travelled in the neighbourhood of London.
