Personal Attacks Policy

There is a policy of No Personal Attacks on this board. Posts containing personal attacks will be deleted. If there is a single line of personal attack in an otherwise well written informative post, the entire post will be deleted.

What constitutes a personal attack?

Insulting a poster, a person's behavior (personal behavior that does not relate to posting) or any characteristic assigned to them by natural selection.

What does not constitute a personal attack?

Insulting a poster's theory, speculation, ideas opinions or anything a poster says relating to the JtR debate or any other topic of discussion, poster's style of posting, posting behavior, etc.

Examples:

Personal Attack:

* Joe is an imbecile who lacks the smallest shred of common sense or reasoning ability.
* Jan, your behavior at the conference was appalling.

Not a Personal Attack:

*Joe, your theory is moronic and lacks the smallest shred of common sense.

* Jan, your behavior on these boards is immature and terrible.

The theory, not the person, is idiotic.
The statement, not the person, is laughable.
The idea, not the person, is worthless.
The behavior, not the person, is bad.

Do not use imperative statements with anyone on the boards. Only one person has the right to tell people what to do on the boards and it isn't you.

If you have qualms with what someone did personally, take it to e-mail. If that person chooses not to reply or chooses to end correspondence before you are satisfied, respect their wishes or it will be viewed as harassment (see harassment policy).

If you insult the boards, the Admin or the Mods, whatever you get in return will be viewed as just so don't whine to the Moderators (the moderator will no doubt be the one trashing you). Attacking the boards and then trying to use the rules of the boards when you are trashed might work in a perfect society, but here you will just be laughed at.
