So what is going on now then ? We seem to have one person saying that they allegedly know who the forgers are, and trying to describe the scenario of provenance, Then, Caz says That Mike allegedly holds a further 40 pages of the diary, and "IT IS MAYBRICK" ???? What a hoop-la. Mr Omlor will be gutted he is missing all this! Well this is all getting more and more unbelievable the more I read. So are these 40 pages, some of the ones cut out of the front of the diary/journal???? So now what happens? all the original believers start to disbelieve, and all the non believers start to believe ???? Because if Mike claims to hold another 40 pages and has decided to wait over a decade to say so, makes me feel very suspicious. Well maybe all this will help us to find out exactly what this document is all about, and where it came from, Maybe soon this case will be closed (i wished) and there will be the roar of the 50%`ers saying "I told you so". Well i dont want to go to work now as i have a 24 hour shift ahead of me, so i may need to visit a cyber cafe to get updates. Hi Mr. Begg by the way. Thanks Steve, Caz, George and Paul. Yours truly Tee-Vee

Hi, all: IF it is true that there are forty more pages of the Diary, it is possible that they are part of the sixty odd pages that were missing at the front of the commonplace book (scrapbook) that contains the Diary, and that Mike Barrett has come up with them from wherever they were squirreled away. Is Mike still drinking? Might this be a stunt to get more attention for himself? Certainly if there ARE forty more pages they could make or break James Maybrick's candidacy as the Whitechapel murderer. I am assuming that if these pages exist, there will be the same sort of unanswered questions as seen in the existing pages. My hunch is that should such pages exist they will finally reveal the truth that James Maybrick was NOT the Whitechapel murderer but has only been fitted up by some opportunistic folk to be the murderer. IF (a lot of if's in this post!!!) Steve Powell's story has any veracity, and Anne Graham was talking about the Diary as early as 1969, why should she want to forge a Diary of Jack the Ripper? Did she get the idea from knowing about her family's tradition about Grannie Formby's attendance at the Maybrick trial with Alice Yapp--if that occurred? I think Peter Birchwood's argument about the need for money has some validity... someone sometime somewhere decided to finish this Diary and present it to the world, knowing that it would cause a sensation. Who? Best regards Chris George

From Keith Skinner In Liverpool – Hope to see Mike Barrett tomorrow evening – with a witness present! Sadly, Alan Gray has turned down my offer of a meeting as he is “…not at liberty to discuss any of my enquiries with anyone at this time.” Apparently Mr Gray’s “…interest in all this, is solely as a Detective working for Mr Melvin Harris on his new book.” Do the sources close to Melvin Harris know whether Melvin intends to name the forgers in his forthcoming book which, presumably, will include all of his embargoed conclusive evidence? And I wonder whether Mike Barrett is aware of Melvin’s book? Back in October 1996, it will be remembered, Mike was actively assisting Alan Gray in trying to prove “…without doubt where you [Mike] bought the diary from…”

Hi All, Keith reports, "Hope to see Mike Barrett tomorrow evening – with a witness present!" Hurrah! New stuff. I am dying to hear about the forty more diary pages and what's in them and everything else Mike now wants to offer. I've been enjoying the speculation as to motives and operations all around, but frankly haven't seen anything yet that would fairly let me rule out any specific possibility concerning who forged this thing and who knew what and when they knew it. Of course, I haven't seen anything that I feel would fairly allow me even to prefer one specific scenario over others either, but it is fun to play out all the possible variations in my slightly sunburnt head. But now there's new stuff coming from Mike and I couldn't be happier. I'm sure it will make me smile. All the best, --John (listening to Waits' Rain Dogs this morning, getting up late after spending last night watching Hedwig and the Angry Inch for the third time. It makes me smile, too.) PS: I think I'm falling in love with that lady in black, with the short hair, who pops up on my screen regularly to say "Congratulations! You've been selected to take our 5 second survey and receive a special $115 thank you package!" Something about her clothes and her attitude and her pointing right at me in that provocative way... Sigh.

Hi, Caz! I am pleased to know you are waiting for the call from Keith Skinner on the Hot Line from Liverpool. We all wait with baited breath on what will be disclosed in the additional 40 pages of the Maybrick Diary that Mike Barrett has supposedly found. A confession written in blood perhaps? Will all at last be revealed? Best regards Chris

Hi Chris, No news yet. Maybe Keith met Mike and kept him up talking 'til 4 in the morning, like he did with you in Bournemouth. If I get any news for you I'll try to post it sometime over the Easter weekend. Please excuse any messages sticky from hot cross buns dripping in butter and chocolate eggs. Love, Caz the Easter Chick

Hi All, Monty, you guess we shall know soon. I shall call you 'Optimist'. Chris, you say the forty new pages will either make or break Mr. Maybrick as the Ripper. I shall call you 'Optimist Too'. John, you say you really do hope it's exactly forty pages. I shall call you 'The Third Optimist'. I'm not even going to guess or bet or hope. I figure that might be a waste of perfectly good Easter egg-chomping time. Love, Sticky Caz

Caz, Stephen, Monty Would these forty pages be some of the ones missing from the front of the original diary I wonder all the best steve

Author: Christopher T George Thursday, 28 March 2002 - 04:27 pm | |
Hi Stephen: That is my thought that the forty pages may be part of the sixty or so pages that someone supposedly hacked out of the front of the Diary. Of course, Mike when he was in a confessing mood said that he himself hacked the pages out using a Stanley knife because the pages had been used to stick photos into the scrapbook and thus were unusable. Now, apparently, he is claiming that Maybrick wrote what is on the pages (if they are the same pages that were cut out of the book).... I wonder if Mike is still going to say he cut the pages out? Confused, everyone? Wait for the next exciting episode! All the best Chris

Near the end of the 'diary' it says: - "Perhaps it would have been wiser to destroy this, but in my heart I cannot bring myself to do so. I have tried once before ..." I personally took this to be the hoaxers rather feeble attempt to explain the missing 48 pages. It will indeed be interesting to see whether these pages (if they exist) come from the same journal.

Just wondering if Keith Skinner's meeting with Mike Barrett did indeed take place. I wonder what effect these new pages (if it turns out there are any) will have on those who believe the original diary was authentic. They've been noticeably quiet.
