This book of poems by Carl Jay Buchanan is part of the James Dickey Contemporary Poetry Series published by the University of South Carolina Press. Poetry-lovers will delight in some of the more inventive pieces Buchanan offers here, some of which have won awards in the American poetry circuit. Some involve monologues of the Ripper speaking to each individual victim, others involve the victims addressing their soon-to-be assassin. Still others are written from the suspect's point of view. A short "Note on Ripperology" is included which provides a short and sometimes flawed run-down of the crimes and times, but it is the poetry and not the prose which sells this volume. This unique volume is recommended for poetry-enthusiasts and collectors, but the casual student of the case would probably not find much value within this slim tome. Order this book!
