Hello Everyone,

I logged onto the boards this morning expecting to see post after post praising the skilled presentation and dramatic descriptions of our good friend Christopher-Michael DiGrazia, whom I caught on This Week in History last night (perhaps the show had aired earlier and I have missed the first wave of raves). I thought he did a fine and professional job and looked quite the scholar, as well.

I should say that I also expected to see a few posts this morning by swooning women (and even a few swooning men, perhaps), since Christopher cut such a handsome and yet slightly roguish figure in his dark suit and impeccably trimmed beard.

And kudos also to CMD for his careful enunciation. It's nice to hear someone speak clearly on television for a change...

Now then, what the hell were those semi-impressionistic murder montages set to a bad parody of heavy metal music doing in there? And why does Jack get rock & roll for his crimes anyway -- even with pictures of gaslights and cobblestones peppering the feature? The murder-music just seemed completely out of place -- as if the producers thought they could somehow show they were hip and cool or that Jack might be made cool for the metal crowd or something.... It was a pretty lame choice, if you ask me.

Sorry, if you had anything to do with this music-video murder montage approach to editing, Chris. Just my opinion here, as always. You, of course, remained the dashing and dazzling light of the show (and you made that forensics guy they talked to look like a pale and washed out total science geek). Heck, you were even more polished and robust than the Ballard "Titanic" guy that was on before you -- and he works outdoors. On a ship.

Seriously, nice job CMD.

--John

PS: The reproduction of the Kelly photo that was on screen for this feature was the best and clearest repro. I've ever seen on a video screen. Either they cleaned up the image a bit or someone did an excellent job with the camera and the transfer because it came out crystal clear -- clearer, probably, than the original, at least on my digital cable...

Hi, John:

I am sorry to admit I missed CM once again! For your information, the same segment on the murder of Polly Nicholls was broadcast as a "This Week in History" spot on the History Channel last year. Seems to be becoming a yearly event! I think we can safely assume CM had nothing to do with as you called it "the semi-impressionistic murder montages set to a bad parody of heavy metal music." As CM will I am sure confirm, he was merely the talking head, if a very eloquent and well coiffured talking head!

Best regards

Chris George
