Quote:

One of the most famous serial killers in history, with a penchant for throat-cutting and the surgical-like mutilation of his prostitute victims, Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes and Mary Kelly, Jack The Ripper was never caught.

In this production writer Gerard Cogley focuses on James Maybrick, a travelling cotton broker from Liverpool, who was never among the police investigators' many suspects, and the recent discovery of his controversial "confessional" diary handed down through the family and finally published in 1993.

The Maybrick house in Liverpool is the central location for all the action. The second brutal Ripper murder has occurred and suspicions flood the mind of Maybricks wife, Florence. As the murders continue the suspicions become accusations and a home in turmoil ends with the death of James Maybrick, allegedly poisoned by his wife.

Witness the shambolic trial of Florence Maybrick and decide for yourself if she was the wife of Jack The Ripper, a murderess, or the Rippers last victim as she is sentenced to death.

A riveting account based on the Diary Of Jack The Ripper and as true to fact as a stage adaption can be.

And you thought I was joking about the musical version - this is just the tryout!
Just wait for the climax of the second act when the stage is dark apart from 3 spots showing the figures of Druitt, Maybrick and Tumblety all dressed in black, carrying bags and thrill when they start the song:
"Three of a kind,
For your information,
We're three of a kind..."
Gets you right in the kidney doesn't it?
Peter.

Mr. Birchwood, please don't associate two genuine suspects with the Maybrick nonsense.

Barry:
Shakespeare once said I believe "They murder in jest; poison in jest; no harm in it." So is my little piece just such a piece of fun, nothing else. The only way to decry the dreadfull diary is to make fun in it and if I draw in the Prime Minister, Florence Nightingale and the Sultan of Ackwond, I hope that their descendents (and you) will forgive me.
Peter ('umble, yes very 'umble.)

As the creator of this new work on Jack The Ripper I would like to invite anyone involved in case book discussions along to a performance of the show. Of course a lot of you don't live in Melbourne but if you happen to be visiting in November 2000 I'll make sure you recieve some comps. Contact me at thecomicbox@yahoo.com
If you would like to know more about the show and why on earth is Maybrick potrayed as the fiend, I'd be more than happy to discuss it with you.
By the way this is not Hollywood, thank goodness.
