Does anyone have the capability of making me a copy of this film? I saw it when it was first aired, and would like to see it again. I thought it was available on video, but it is out of print. I don't remember much about it, but I've been told it's not very accurate. Anyway, I'm still interested in seeing it again. I am, of course, willing to pay for this much appreciated service. Thanks, John

Hi all-- TNT just aired the edited version (first time ever seeing it for me) and while I was disappointed at their ending I think a lot was edited for content...is it truly gruesome or just some tedious stuff that was edited. I wouldn't mind getting a copy of the unedit either if anyone's offering to start up a recording chain..... shawna

Shawna, You are completely right. It is edited. A LOT. There are many scenes cut out from it. I've been looking for an unedited version of this movie for as long as I can remember, but because it is OOP, there's no hope. Steve

If you enjoyed the Michael Caine version of this movie, I suppose you will also want to see the new version " The Diary of Jack the Ripper" starring Anthony Hopkins.

Just wanted to let you all know that the movie is on TNT today at 11 AM EST until 3 PM EST. Unfortunately, it is edited... BLEH! Scenes like Mary Kelly's body and the like are taken out.

It seems as though they went with the Conspiracy theory. Really a well done semi-documentary. Just a question, why the Jekyll and Hyde analogy?

Looks like they cut out the third man tho. I kind of like the Jekyll and Hyde thing. It shows that the Ripper could have been a person with a split personality. I guess Gull CREATED the split personality within himself in this one, and thus he was both Doctor and Ripper. They cut out all of the freemason nonsense. In a sense, Gull was Jekyll and the Ripper was Hyde.

Hi y'all. Saw 15 minutes in the middle of this movie today & then had to go to work ... very frustrating. Surfed the net looking for the time it'll be on again here (Central Time Zone in US) - no luck. However, there was some info on the making of the movie - it's a made-for-TV movie, orginally shown as a mini-series. Some earlier postings here stated the movie's not available on video because it's out-of-print ... when actually it was never available on video at all. Take care, Ashling

Hi y'all. Please check your local TV listings for this week. It was previously stated that TNT will show this mini-series again on June 3 ... BUT my cable listing says Friday June 4 from 10 am - 2 pm (C)entral (S)tandard (T)ime [11 am EST]. One of my work days, so I'm taping it - cuts, commercials & all. Take care, Ashling

hi! i´m reading "the complete jack the ripper"and i think that it is a very interesting and detailed work.i watched the tv series, i mean that of michael cain and it seems to be slightly poor in same questions.do you really think that there were such police corp who could not catch them?what do you think about the film?

Hello, Ana - While I'd watch Michael Caine and Armand Assante wash dishes, the film is a great example of artistic license in scriptwriting. If you go back throught the archives, you'll find several opinions on the piece - for many the impetus of their interest to research more on Jack - even a few who can list point by point its' discrepancies from historical fact. Keep in mind, this individual was advised to get a life :-) Enjoy it for what it is, and keep reading - you've made a great start. All the best, Sara

It's region 2 only, I'm afraid. However, the vast majority of DVD players have some kind of "hack" to allow them to play DVDs from any region - maybe worth doing a google search for the model number of your player and "region hack" Not that I would ever advocate this kind of thing, of course.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to have to invest in a new model...they are making them now where they will play all formats of dvd! Looks like I'll just have to be satisfied with my video copy for the time being. ![]() Esther

Hi all. I love that movie. I have a NTSC VHS tape of it (don't ask). Favorite quote: "The East End of London is out of control!" Regards Timsta Oh and PS: Susan George's fake Kate Eddowes teeth, lest we forget.
