Casebook Message Boards: Ripper Media: Specific Titles: Fiction : Yours Truly, Jack the Ripper (West)

This novel was also a tie-in to the 1988 anniversary. It actually makes fairly clever use of the material and the passing players that have been connected with the case over the years, e.g., Bernard Shaw and others. The whole Freemason thing plays heavily in the plot and West uses the position of the victims' bodies--how their arms and legs were arranged--as clues. As a fictional account of the case, this can be fun. It's also out of print so check your local library for a copy.

I also have a copy of Ms. West's novel "Yours Truly Jack the Ripper". Of all the fictional acounts of the Ripper murders I have read, this is one of the best. It is well researched and written, even though it revolves around one of the worst suspect theries around. But this brings up a question I'm sure we all ask from time to time; when is someone going to get around to writing a truly acurate JTR novel, using the most recent information?? Oh well, all in all it is a good read and well worth the time.
