Did Inspector Abberline have any prior murder case investigations/experiences before the JtR cases? Had he arrested any people for murder before being assigned to the cases involving JtR? If he did, had he testified in court about those previous murder cases? Does any record (reports or trial transcripts) exist of his experiences as a murder investigator for cases prior to the JtR cases?

Found out that prior to becoming a police officer, Abberline was a watchmaker. In a Discovery Channel show on the night of 7-9-2000 Abberline was called 'meticulous.' The show also said that Abberline 'believed in stakeouts.'
