Casebook Message Boards: Pub Talk: Anyone want to get together?
Author: Brian Schoeneman Sunday, 15 December 2002 - 11:47 pm | |
Howdy all, I was wondering if any of the DC area board members would like to get together for a dinner or something after the holidays? I've met Chris George, but I'd love to get a chance to meet any of the rest of you who are local, if you want. So if anyone is up for dinner, beer and a chat about old Jacky, either respond to this thread, or email me. If enough people want to come, I'll set something up. B

Hi, Brian: I am sure we could get a group together for an evening. Bob Dulaney who was at the last Baltimore conference also attended Cornwell's Smithsonian lecture would probably be willing to come, as would Judge Bothe and myself. I will e-mail you about the idea. All the best Chris

ALL IN GOOD FUN The notion of people getting together after having posted on the boards for several years is intriguing in that they'd have a look at one another's real personalities for the first time. The reality may be extremely different from the impression that appears to us as individuals in the postings. If I were to meet some of the posters for the first time, this is what I think I'd find: Caroline Morris: Marilyn Monroe with a stiffer upper lip and an English accent. Christopher T. George: Stubby Kaye with a superiority complex. Ally: About 24 years old, ethnically Germanic, black leather slacks! Christopher Michael-DiGrazia: A cynical, cigar-chomping 64 year-old midget trying to pass himself off as Sebastian Cabot. Mark Warren: Big Bird. Howard Brown: Al Capone. Dan Norder: Aaron Kosminski on the loose. Judy Stock: Tessie O'Shay. Peter Birchwood: Sean Connery. Ivor Edwards: An underworld version of Arthur C. Clarke. Joseph Triola: Eric Hoffer. Viper: A distinguished-looking soccer player holding a pint of Guinness. Diana Comer: A kind of ground-bound Mary Poppins with a bitter political agenda. Or, seen only a slightly different way, a 15 year-old virgin in estrus at the gate of Castle Dracula at 11:59 PM on Walpurgis Eve. Wolf VanderLinden: Jonathan Edwards as Dr. Zachary Smith aboard the Jupiter II, Lost In Space. Scott Nelson: Kind of a Star Trek sort; an intriguing combination of Mr. Spock, Mr. Scott, and the rejuvenated version of Ephraigm Cochran. Jim Leen: Woody Allen. There's one person who's posted here I'm totally dedicated to getting together with some day. All the posters who know me know who I'm going to say: Eric "Zippity" Vaughan. Never, never has there been anyone like this remarkable man. Zippity made exactly two posts to these message boards, prior to the time we had a Moderator, and they were the very purest ghoulish necrophilia. Zippity is to Ripperology what General George Patton was to the military. The ultimate warrior, the perfect type, the one above all. David

I'd feel jilted at not having been included in the fun here, but I'm not sure if anything David wrote was a compliment, so I'm counting my blessings. B

Guys, Chris George and I are looking into where and when we are going to do this, so as soon as we figure it out, we'll get the info posted so you all can make your plans. I want to give everyone, particularly those travelling like Stan, Sir Robbie and Scott Medine time to make arrangements. B

Hi Guys, If I knew what the 'DC area' was (is it an erogenous zone?) I'd take off my high heels and run barefoot to meet you all there, wearing nothing but Chanel and a smile. I won't be bringing Sean Connery with me though. Love, Norma Jean

Oh, well...the days of the four inch spike have passed for me, as well...can't say I miss 'em, either! Yup, being inside the Beltway (M25) is a lot like being inside a pin ball machine, Caz....only not as much fun. Save your shekels for Liverpool, OK? We WILL see you there! J

Was there ever a date solidified? I am finangling to arrange a combination work trip and family visit to NC, and research trip to the Nat'l Archives in January so maybe if the stars align correctly I could fit this in while in DC. Now I must go and get the proofreading done on Capt. Ten Eyck's testimony and then put a pot of black eyes on for dinner. Happy New Year to all!! Billy

Howdy all, For anyone who was wondering about the Chris George - Brian S. get together, we're going to plan for something in April. Again, it's not going to be anything huge, just an informal get together for those who want to discuss ripper stuff and can't get to Liverpool, or who are in the immediate area. If anyone has to choose between coming and hanging out with us and going to Liverpool, go to Liverpool. If anyone has to choose between coming and hanging out with us now, or doing it in April 2004, wait until 2004 when things will be better organized. We'll keep you posted as it gets closer to April. Hi Brian and Chris: Count me in, fellas. Though I'd love to go to Liverpool, I don't think it's going to happen. Besides, I'm getting in on the London job. Warm regards, Divia
