Hi,

I'm posting this unprompted so that there's a post here letting everyone who uses this site know how they can support it.

Internet bandwidth isn't free, and I suspect that the thread complaining about Cornwell alone cost Stephen a pretty penny once it is all added up. So by complaining about the sloppy research of a multimillionaire who insults ripperologists, we are actually taking money away from a longtime supporter of solid research and support for ripperologists. It's not fair, so I made a small donation.

It's kind of hidden on the site (I'd put a small link on the front page of the site and the boards, if I were them), but there's a page that explains how to send donations. It's at: http://www.casebook.org/about_the_casebook/funding.html

If you don't already have PayPal, I believe if you sign up for it and list spryder@casebook.org as the one who told you about it, this site gets a free $5 from PayPal above and beyond anything you might send. So even if you don't donate directly you can help out.

Also, keep in mind the many links to Amazon.com on this site. If you go to buy a book, even if it's not a ripper book, you can click on the link here and this site will get a small percentage.

Dang, I lost the link the the page where Stephen has his old ripper-related books for sale.

And I'm sure I'm forgetting of other ways. Stephen and Ally, to their credit, aren't in our faces about funding the site, but I do think we should all help out where possible. If the most frequent posters sent even just $5 it'd add up, and offset the costs the site bears by us constantly voicing our opinions.

I'd just like to thank WTM, Dan and Howard for their donations, and for helping to spread the word on how donations can be made to the Casebook. WTM's been hounding me for years now to make the funding page more visible on the Casebook... well, you win WT. :) There is now a link to that page on the bottom of every Casebook page.

Thanks again to everyone for their support!

Good work, Stephen. Maybe in a few more years, you will move that link to a location where someone will actually notice it. Oh, well; it's a start.

But, one would hope, not malicious.
