Judith: Yeah, again I was humming exactly the same tune. But I didn't post that 'cos I thought it a little inappropriate to celebrate death on these boards. Once again, great minds think alike. Spooky. Regards Timsta

As someone said on the T.V. yesterday ...If Brady & Hindley had been hung they would now just be a chapter in crime history books..their continued existence has maintained the media interest in the case & it's mythological interest...much as if the Ripper had been caught we wouldn't have these boards.... Interesting point Stanley. There have been other violent and evil killers that were caught, unlike the Ripper, but most are unpleasant musty memories now. In fact, some (Chapman, Cream, Deeming, Bury, maybe Mrs. Maybrick and Mrs. Pearcey) have gotten a type of "enhancement" (for want of a fitting term) by being suspected of being the Ripper. Almost like being promoted to Ogre, first class, second grade. When I read the obituary on Hindley's demise in the NY Times this morning, I was glad she never got released - she never deserved to get released. Five kids were murdered by her and her lover, and rather horribly murdered at that. There was a long list of families and friends who never got over the horror of these deaths. Maybe the eccentric Long Longford, who championed the "reformed" Myra in the 1980s and 1990s, felt she'd been punished enough...but I find it hard to agree. My only comment, and I beg pardon if it is a bit offensive, is "One down in hell now, and one to go....Come on Ian!" Jeff

I apologize. I should have said Steven, not Stanley in addressing the previous message. Jeff

Dear Jeff, SOME may be offended, but I'm certainly NOT! These two deserved to spend every day miserable, unhappy, alone, and suffering....I dearly wish that Ian had become the girlfriend of Billy Joe Bob Bubba in some stinky prison somewhere, and been passed around to all his friends! Sorry, all, I can have no sympathy for these "things", and I'm not a bit sorry that Myra croaked. TOUGH! Tell that to Leslie, John, their other victims, or the parents of those lost children; I'm SURE those families are just awash in pity!! NOT!! J

Purely playing devil's advocate here, but ... To all intents and purposes Myra Hindley became a political prisoner. She was kept behind bars because successive home secretaries knew that if they were the one to order her release it would result in a landslide against their party at the next election. Myra Hindley became her own worst enemy by contstantly seeking to be released. I have no doubt that if she'd kept her mouth shut and got on with sewing mail bags she'd have been released about 16 years ago. Yes, hell, death, damnation - all those things are too good for her, but there are people who have committed crimes on a par with Hindley's who've been released - and in a relatively short space of time, too. How do you get much worse than killing five innocent children? Well, try the IRA terrorists who think nothing of blowing up hundreds of children at a time, quite indiscriminately, with their bombs and are then invited round for high tea with Tony Blair, two Jags and their cronies. Doesn't it leave a bad taste in your mouth? Does anyone know where Mary Bell is these days? She could be amongst us. Regards Peter

Dear Everyone, I was listening to Blom Cooper on the radio the other day banging on about how Hindley should have been released years ago. He made the point that only lawyers and judges like himself should make this type of decision, we prols should just trust the judgement of the professionals. Surely this isn't the same Blom Cooper who wrote a book about how Hanratty (whose guilt has recently been confirmed using DNA evidence) should not have been hanged because he was innocent of the crimes he was convicted for and should of been released with a hearty handshake? Some judgement Blom! Bob Hinton

Dear Peter: Great point.......We have the same problem over her in the States,at least with the minority of us who know a little more than what football game is on television at the moment. It has to do with Ariel Sharon, the 5th ex-terrorist PM of Israel, and his relationship with George Bush. For your information,Peter, and everyone else, they have a story about Myra Handley at www.crimelibrary.com.,in case you can stomach reading more about that monster................

Dear Mr.Hinton: Regarding ambulance chasers ( slang for lawyers..),Charles Manson had a lawyer who actually suggested in court( his name was Irving Kanarek ) who when asked about the acclaim that Manson was getting from the disturbed minds he commandeered and that they thought he was Jesus,he,Kanarek said,"Maybe he IS." What did Shakespeare say about that profession? If there's a revolution going on,kill the lawyers first !

Bob, Howard What do you call ten lawyers bound and gagged, chained and padlocked, then thrown into the Thames (or the Potomac if it pleases)? A good start. Peter.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. The only good thing about keeping her alive all these years is that if she had been executed after her trial, by now there would be dozens of crackpots coming forth with "evidence" to "prove" that she was really innocent and demanding that she be posthumously vindicated. At least her victims' families have been spared that, unlike the families of Hanratty's victims.
