Sour grapes, Peter. Our lads could not do the job. Perhaps our German cousins can? Almost match time. *** Deletable thread, Ally!!! ***

Your lads Chris, were terrific - there but for the Grace of God. The English boys were presented with the best opportunity EVER to win the whole thing and blew it. A very ordinary Brazil side won the competition. How come the USA don't dominate football (you call it soccer for anyone other than Chris who reads this)? You've got the money, you could build the best stadia, hire the best coaches, pay the best players. You should be living it up. Peter.

Hi, Peter: By "Our lads" I did mean England and not the United States although in truth the USA, whom I did support in the World Cup... heaven help me if the US and England would have met in the Cup, I would have been truly schizophrenic... DID do better than England in their final match. While England seemed to simply fade from the pitch, the US gave a fighting performance throughout. The US came close to scoring on numerous occasions almost to the shock of the Germans who could, with a bit of luck, have made an exit from the Cup and joined France, Italy, Mexico, Portugal and Argentina on the planes leaving the Far East!!! All the best Chris
