Hi Peter Cable ties are only impossible to get out of if they are applied correctly if they are applied the wrong way they can be removed Now I'm not saying that the cable ties on Joanne were wrongly applied but I just thought I would point out a possibility from steve

Thanks Steve The police have in their possession the cable ties that were used on Joanne Lees. It isn't even a possibility that they were tied incorrectly. They were just tied loosely. Why? Peter.

Hi Peter I must state here that I have no opinion on this case but now for the ties I saw the Cable ties that were used on TV and they did look a complicated design when two large cable ties linked together would have sufficed As for them being loose the only reason I can think of is that if they are put on very tight I would have thought that they could do some damage to the flow of blood but for the life of me I can think of no reason at all as to why the culprit would be concerned about this after all he did murder Peter Falconio so why the concern over Joanne unless of course his intention may have been kidnap for his own devices from steve

BREAKING NEWS ... The police in Australia have arrested a suspect for the murder of Peter Falconio and are awaiting the results of a DNA comparison with blood that was found on Joanne Lees' clothing. More to follow, I'm sure ...

Hi, Peter: Many thanks for alerting us to this breaking news. For those who have been following this case, here's a link to the BBC News Site for the latest on this story. Best regards Chris P.S. Peter, I know I owe you an e-mail. Work projects and the World Cup have slowed down my outside reading. Hope you understand!

G'day, This appeared in todays 'Sunday Telegraph': 'Northern Territory police are investigating claims missing British backpacker Peter Falconio may have faked his own murder................. Police yesterday revealed they had received a letter from an anonymous British informant claiming that, before he left for Australia, 28 year old Mr Falconio sought detailed information about insurance and faking deaths.....British police have interviewed a backpacker who claims he recently saw Mr Falconio on the east coast of Australia....."This is still a murder investigation", the police spokeswoman said. There is supposed to be a programme about this subject on British TV in the near future, possibly this week - but once again I have started typing without checking the tv guide. Sorry guys, but I think it may be channel 4??? Also, for the first time, the Aussie police displayed the top that Joanne was wearing on the night she was attacked - there was certainly some staining on it. This one still doesn't feel right. Peter.

Morning All, It has been brought to my attention that the Sunday papers in the UK reported yesterday that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the murder of Peter Falconio and attempted abduction of Joanne Lees. Apparently they are now less than 24 hours away from receiving DNA results. Love, Caz

G'day, Australia's 'Daily Telegraph' Newspaper dated Monday September 2, is in front of me now. The headline reads: 'OUTBACK AMBUSH'. On Saturday a German tourist and her daughter were abducted at gunpoint and tied to a tree. The attacker demanded money, and they gave him a small amount. Police are playing down any link with the Peter Falconio attack, because of differences in the description of the attacker. A leading Sydney criminal psychiatrist said:"The attack on the two German tourists was almost certainly a copycat crime. The gunman had probably read newspaper stories about the arrest of a suspect in the disappearance of British backpacker Peter Falconio." Nothing about another arrest in the Falconio case. I can't wait to read the results of that DNA test! LEANNE

G'day, I just watched the late night news on the TV and there has been a man arrested in South Australia, who is awaiting DNA tests! The report also stressed that police believe there is no connection between the recent attack and the earlier one on Peter Falconio. The only similarities being the use of a firearm and the use of cable ties,(of a dissimilar kind.) LEANNE

Just seen a newsflash on the BBC site to say that DNA from Murdoch has been matched to blood found in the Falconio case. No other details than that at the moment. Looks like JL might have been telling the truth after all.
