I've long wondered whether this could be an overlooked sighting of the Ripper:

Shortly after Polly Nichols's murder, Patrick Mulshaw, a night porter at a nearby sewage works plant, was told by a male passerby: "Watchman, old man. I believe somebody is murdered down the street." Do you think this man could have been the Ripper, hanging round the murder site to see the commotion caused by his actions and eager to call attention to them?

James, personally speaking I'm sure the Ripper was seen more than once. He was just not recognised for who he was.

Dear Mr. Hinton,

I know you're not referring to the graphic novel "From Hell." Have you written a nonfiction book about the Ripper? If so, how thrilling to be able to talk with you! Where is your book available?

I'm planning on writing a novel about the Ripper--a "confessions of Jack" book.

All best, Jeff Paul

Dear Jeff Paul,

I believe that's the first time anyone has described the chance to talk to me as thrilling - purgatory is usally the word that springs to mind!

I would only be too happy to chat to you about the Ripper or other crimes.

Bob

Dear Bob:

Aw, I have always found discussions with you to be thrilling, inspiring, thought provoking even. And let's face it, it takes a lot to provoke a thought out of me these days.

Warm regards,
Divia

Dear Bob Hinton, Well, I was hoping to meet some authors who had written about Jack to help me with my research, and I didn't expect to encounter one on these boards so soon!

I looked up your book at Amazon.co.uk. George Hutchinson the Ripper? Not sure I agree with that. But hey--anything's possible.

Send me an e-mail, please, and let's start talking! Jeff

Hi All,

JJ Paul, I hope you don't think me presumptuous by suggesting reading material for you, but if you are interested in the Patrick Mulshaw sighting, I would recommend "The News From Whitchapel", by Messrs. Chisholm, Yost, and DiGrazia. The work contains an essay on the Mulshaw sighting by Dave Yost, which I think you would find interesting.

Geez, is the weekend here yet?

Jim

Jim, thanks for the suggestion! Is that the new book containing annotated articles from the Daily Telegraph, and which was published in North Carolina, where I currently reside (Raleigh).
