"THE ONLY GIRL IN THE WORLD" by Glyn Maxwell
AWARD WINNING poet / playwright Glyn Maxwell conjures an, until now, unseen side of the "Whitechapel Murders".
A LOVE STORY that transforms 'Mary Jane Kelly' from a set of coroners crime scene photographs, showing her as a flesh stripped corpse, into the passionate, bawdy and often hilarious character that she was and her lover 'Joseph Barnett'.
OPENING Tuesday 17 July 2001 at one of England's oldest Music Halls - Hoxton Hall, 130 Hoxton Street, London N1.

Looks like fun. And I can recommend the old Hoxton music hall as worth a visit in its own right, having seen my younger daughter work there with a youth group once.
Recommended. Wish I were there to see it.

Alas, not a hope, Melanie. I'm stuck in USA helping my wife nurse her disabled mother, and will only manage the most fleeting visits to UK until death ends a rather helpless life of infirmity coupled with constitutional soundness that could last ten years!

Hello Martin,
I also saw you on screen the other night, though I've never met you you are begining to take on a familiar look to me. I'd like to pass to you and your wife my sympathies concerning her mother. My friend of fiftytwo years,--his mother is in a nursing home, she is 91yrs old, altzeimers disease has taken her over completely, death would be a happy release for both, but against all odds she hangs on. It's sad, I remember her as a very smart, quick witted lady. I hope I haven't said anything out of place, I just wanted you to know, I sympathise.

Hi Stephen - My television appearance is now firmly controlled by my wife. One of her sous-chefs said, following my appearance discussing the diary on 60 Minutes way back in about 1993, 'He looked like somebody throwed up on him'. So, alas, the art nouveau poster printed shirt I wore then has been consigned... as has the lilac lace fronted shirt I wore for a Feldman-filmed conference.... and now it's all short hair and collars and ties and suits.
(But the socks are usually still yellow!)

Anyone coping with Altzheimer's has it far worse than we do, and has all our sympathy.
And for anyone who hit this by mistake and missed the opening, I hope I'll be forgiven for posting a noisy advertisement of the material that is sadly beng replaced by discussions of my lovely appearance:
