Why has their been no further research conducted or reported on Frederick Charrington?

MJ Trow's 1998 book proposes the slyly dismisses Charrington to make light of the new suspects being discussed. He presents a solid case for Charrington, then states that it is easy to fit any suspect into known facts regarding 'JTR'.

Why would Trow's last statement of his book automatically eliminate Charrington as a suspect? That is what it appears to have done.

Hello Stan,

Re Frederick Charrington. Afraid don't know much about him, but last year on our local Anglian Television there was a report about an island he had purchased and started a cult which attracted quite a few members. He built several houses on the island. During the first world war the military took the island over and garrisoned a special secret warfare establishment unit who experimented with different types of torpedoes and rockets. It has been the retreat of several prominent people over the years and is now used as a farm. The island is called Osea and is not very far from where we live in Thorpe-le-Soken. It is the Maldon Estuary on the river Blackwater.
It was rumoured that the footballer Manchester United and England Captain David Beckham was thinking of buying the island.

Not very helpful I know but still it is a bit different.

A.
