G'day Rick, Welcome, I think Jon is trying to tell you that alot of posters DON'T think it was Barnett. I think there is a bloody good chance it was. I haven't read anything yet, to convince me that it couldn't have been. He had a squeaky clean image then, and still does now. LEANNE!

Rick, If you don't have the $0.01, a nude photograph will do. All new posters generally scan theirs onto our boards with their first or second post. David

David, you silly boy, you forgot to specify full-frontal ;-) Scriblerius, my mum used to swear by syrup of figs for constipation.

Scrib, Well, well, well. It seems we've identified another alias on these boards. The photograph posted above is that of Paul Begg. Therefore, if the poster posted his own photograph, Begg is Scriblerius. Hmmmmm.....

Well, Scriblerius, you win the bottle of Champagene, Radka has been asking for that for decades..

Hi Scrib, Caz recomends syrup of figs for constipation, but if my interpretation of your portrait is true, you are just about to start running. The pose also suggests why. best regards Bob

I am new here. I know many of you will be skeptical about what i have to say, but i suppose that is to be expected. I have some psychic ability - not where i can tell you your future or anything like that. But i have ability, such as clairvoyance (visions.) I have seen the past in visions. One of these, i beleive to be jack the ripper. Which is why i am here. I have never been into jack the ripper before - though once as a little girl i saw a documentary on t.v. about it and it did affect me. I later scimmed through a book on it but didn't read it. I had this vision about two months ago ( i don't have visions all the time only on occasion, this was my last one and it has stuck with me ever since)I saw a long, larg knife (don't know about knives so i'm not sure of the name of it) that a man was holding being traced up and down over some womans abdomen that was exposed ( she was not fully nude, though) i couldn't see either of their faces at this point, i could only see that she was lying down and he has talkinig to her as he was doing this, his voice soft and sing -songy and with an english accent. He tried to make it seem like the knife was some sort of foreplay. I don't remember what he said, unfortunatly.she was laying down as if she thought they were about to have sex.ButI knew that what was on his mind was to cut her open with it. That is when that part of the vision stopped. I then, after knowing somehow he had tortured her and killed her (though i didn't see that part -thank god!), saw him in full view, sitting at a dinig room table alone. He was a very well -dressed young man - late 20's or early thirties in age ( i would say, not much past 30 though) With a bright, very clean looking white shirt with cuffs, dress slacks in gray with suspenders. He was definately from a different era, i would say victorian english. I remember his face clear - it was at a slight sideview. He had very way brown hair and a matching brown moustache. He looked like a gentleman - not at all like a killer. After this vision i just knew somehow, in my heart it was jack the ripper. After looking through the suspects photographs, i got goosebumps when i saw Joe Barnett. That was him. I especially remember the eyes and his dark, full eyebrows. I know it is the same man. I never forget a face.So i just thought i'd let all you jack the ripper buffs know. Maybe i was seeing something else altogether, since i know my vision left ut a lot of detail (the act) but i don't think so. The face is the same. I do wonder why i saw it though.I certainly hope it wasn't a past life vision. Since i've had some of them, but only in dreams...I do want to know your opinions on this. I'm wondering if i should get hypnotized because now i can't get this out of my head. If any of you beleive in reincarnation and past lives, do you know if seeing something like this as a sort - of third party means i was one of them or am i just seeing peice of history not connected to me personally?

A knife as foreplay. And one of his victims would go along with this. Someone's been watching too many movies. Good God.

Hi Michelle, Have you heard of Pamela Ball's Jack The Ripper, A Psychic Investigation? It was published in 1998 by Arcturus Publishing Limited, 1-7 Shand Street, London, SE1 2ES. It might be an idea to get hold of a copy and compare notes :-) You could always write to Pamela via her publisher. I am sure she would be interested in hearing about your experiences and she may be able to offer some friendly advice. She is a very nice lady, we had a good chat when I met her a few months back. Best of luck, Caz

They call this "cryptomnesia." It is a common explanation for memories of reincarnation and stories of past lives. The mind takes memories of something read or heard about and, forgetting where it came from, recycles it as a memory. See the "Bridey Murphy" case for a perfect illustration.

Michelle: It's very difficult for anyone born this century to avoid reading about JtR or seeing one of the manf films etc. My belief in this sort of psychic experience is on a par with my belief that James Maybrick (or indeed Joe Barnett) was JtR. I would however suggest that you only consider hypnosis if: a/ you want to believe you've been abducted by the grey aliens from Zeta Reticuli, b/ You have the feeling you must have been a survivor of incest or c/ Your home town was home to a raging coven of Satanists who practised unspeakable brutalities between watching football and "I love Lucy" reruns. Please remember that it's only a few years ago that someone published a book proving by hypnotic treatment that one in ten Americans had been ritually abused in childhood. Naturally enough, if there were that many Satanists in the US they could elect the Devil as President. On the other hand... Peter.

Hi All, Peter, you must not blame the poor Satanists for electing Clinton (twice!). It's completely unfair to tarnish Satan's image in this manner, when the liberal Southern Democrats are the ones to blame :-) Jim "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar" - Freud

Peter, Your beliefs are TRULY going to be challenged if you elect to read my thesis on the case. Put your hand in mine, and we'll blast off to places past Pluto, where Jack the Ripper REALLY is. David

Thesis, what thesis?

Author: Jon Saturday, 15 January 2000 - 10:25 am | |
Ok, a few little questions: - Was Barnett fired, or was he simply laid off? - did Barnetts other brothers loose there job at the same time? - Did he have his licence revoked, or was it a case of him not renewing it, because he was not working as a porter any longer? - If it was revoked, how come he was able to renew it later? - Paley suggests porters could earn as much as 3 pounds a week, a princely sum for those days, if he earned a high wage, where is the incentive to steal? I dont recall Bruce providing any answers along these lines. Regards, Jon

David: Past Pluto is Nereid, the Oort Cloud and possibly Persephone. Alternatively, if we anagram Pluto, we come up with Tolpu which is like a Tolpa (see "Harvey") but without so much fur. Surely you're not basing your theory on some psychic event? Still, I'm quite happy to be challenged so just e-mail me your thesis and I'll be happy to take a look at it. I still think that you're putting the finger on Druitt though. Peter.

anon, The thesis is under construction at this time. Mr. B., I love that name, Oort. How fitting for a nebulous structure seen from a great distance. David
