I've been interested in the Jack the Ripper case for a long time now and I've read these boards from time to time. Being a casual observer, it can be difficult to keep track of all details, as some of you who put more time into this probably feel. The other night while reading some messages about how Jack got around unnoticed, it struck me- maybe he was a police officer. It seemed to make some sense to me- for more reasons then one, and I would assume that has been looked into already, but I couldn't think of anything I have ever read linking Jack to being one of the police.
So what I'm asking is, has it been discussed, and if so, what was the outcome? I'm sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere. |

As you have no doubt noticed, the boards are a labrynth of tangling threads and turns designed to trap and totally confuse the unwary (and the wary too). Maybe one of these days someone will get around to tidying up the place. Although I know that Jack the Cop has been discussed before, there doesn't seem to be a thread that I can find. Maybe someone else could direct you if there is. Until then...here's as good a place as any. Was JtR a cop...no. Haven't you heard he was a cotton merchant?
