JACK THE RIPPER'S MUMMY FOUND!

LONDON -- Workers tearing down an old bakery have discovered the mummified remains of history's most notorious serial killer -- bloodthirsty Jack the Ripper!

HEAT from the bakery ovens helped preserve Jack the Ripper's corpse.

The body, identified as that of Dr. Nigel Torme, was found in a secret chamber beneath the bakery, along with the corpses of two unidentified women who had been stabbed and dissected.

Experts say it was probably the constant dry heat from the ovens that had kept the bodies preserved since the turn of the century.

The building was once the home of Dr. Torme, who lived there during the late 1800s when five prostitutes were killed in London's East End and countless others were reported missing.

It was converted to a bakery after the doctor disappeared in 1900.

The infamous "Ripper murders" remained unsolved for 112 years.

But now experts are sure they have indisputable evidence.

"We found the bloody surgical knives beside the body," said noted French criminologist and Ripper expert, Dr. Jeanne Benot, who was called in by British authorities.

"And the women in the cellar were killed in exactly the same vicious way as the Ripper's prostitute victims, who died in 1888.

"But most damning of all is the fact that the overcoat he was wearing perfectly matches a piece of material that was found at one of the murder scenes.

"That piece of material definitely came from that coat."

Dr. Benot says a small amount of poison was found in a vial by the body. She believes Dr. Torme's death was a suicide, prompted by the unbearable guilt he felt over his crimes.

"Dr. Torme was never a suspect so he was never questioned in the case," says the respected researcher.

"Everyone probably thought he simply left town.

"However, when the workers found those women's bodies and the knives with him, we guessed he was probably responsible for the Ripper murders. But what really tipped me off was that he was wearing that coat.

"I asked myself why would he be wearing a coat in that heat?

"Then I realized that it was his way of confessing he knew we'd match the coat with the cloth fragment the authorities had."

Officials believe Dr. Torme built the secret death chamber beneath the home, brought the women there and killed them. Later, he withdrew from society to live below the bakery for the last few years of his life.

Hi, Stephen:

Very interesting. Does anybody know anything about the "French criminologist and Ripper expert, Dr. Jeanne Benot"? Who are the authorities who called in Dr. Benot? Does anyone know anything about the "piece of material that was found at one of the murder scenes" and that supposedly matches the coat found on the skeletal remains of Dr. Torme? If the two women's remains found with Torme's corpse were also skeletal, how can it be proven that the women "were killed in exactly the same vicious way as the Ripper's prostitute victims"? I assume that the fleshy remains of the women would have disintegrated. I further assume that the "Weekly World News" is a "National Enquirer" type publication and this report can be filed alongside sightings of Christ and Elvis unless proved otherwise.

Go to the link. Their top story is "Farm Couple haunted by ghost Chickens". If this story isn't just plucked from thin air what'll be interesting is if any of the major London dailies
pick up on this and if the police dispatch any sort of forensic team.

regaurds,

Hi, Chandler and Jon:

Yes, I looked at the link, which provoked my remark about Jesus and Elvis. I searched the BBC News site and there were no "hits" for Dr. Jeanne Benot, Nigel Torme, or mummified Jack the Ripper.

Now you've gone and done it. I was so hoping the chicken story might have some truth to it.

Thanks, Stephen. Excellent.

The World Weekly News is a grocery stand tabloid; a little like a mix between a lower-brow version of the Fortean Times and the April 1st edition of a school paper.

The readership is mainly drunken college students.

All the names in the above article would be complete fabrications. An odd social phenomenon, really. A newspaper of nothing but lies and nonsense. Cynical and surreal, but quite amusing at times.

Dr. Nigel Torme= I'm thinking the etymology might be something like 'Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce)'+ 'Tore me'.

Hi All,

I remember how I as a child enjoyed making newspapers with other children: we typed it, made drawings, and of course made up stories. One time their was a succesfull scary news-story enjoyed by the whole street about a missile attack from Libia on the Capitool in Washington (I think we made it up after a missile attack of America on Libia).

I loved the coat-thing. Great! :-)

Torme is an anagram of morte, which is French
for died or death or something like that. Hence
Dr. Torme = Dr. Death

This proves that Littlechild was confused. He heard that a "Dr.T" was Jack the Ripper and jumped to the conclusion that Tumblety-already known to the police for other reasons-was the man. And now we know better...

To all
Now I get it! In the US we have the Globe and the Star. Still I wonder who he is? Any mummies missing from the British Museum?
Bye, Pv
