On the shocking, saddening interview with Martin Bashir that was aired on 20/20 last night, Michael Jackson said that he was not a weirdo (!) and he made the comment, "There's no Jack the Ripper in this room."
The former King of Pop mentioned Jack! Should Jack sue for libel?

My oldest son was watching it last night, and when he heard the name mentioned, he came running to get me and said "Dad, Dad! Jack the Ripper's on TV!"

Vila and I were in the chatroom last night, and I mentioned it to him.
I don't know about ya'll, but Michael Jackson claiming he's had no plastic surgery is about as believable as Saddam saying he doesn't have chemical weapons.
That broadcast was very, very sad. It reminded me of how screwed up Elvis was before he died - must be something that happens to "kings".

How can people let Michael Jackson even mention the word "children," let alone take advantage of them in this parasitic (even if non-sexual) way?
And doesn't he realize that he's doing the same thing to those kids, in a way, that his dad (allegedly) did to him--controlling them and terrorizing them?
I say "allegedly" because his dad and one of his brothers deny the allegations--he could be making up an "abuse excuse" so people will excuse his being so weird. |

Please don't include Elvis in the same category as the increasingly demented Michael Jackson. If you want to know the truth about Elvis, you will have to wait until a certain historian/author I know from Denmark finishes his next installment of the Mare Inebrium saga-- which will reveal all.
To make a long story short, Elvis left this planet, faking his death, and began to roam the universe to escape the stigma of fame. Eventually, Elvis accepted the job of Bartender in a fabulous establishment which will, 1140 years in our future, be located on a world only 65 light years from here.
He's quite happy there/then, and even gets to sing occasionally a well as serve drinks to various godlike beings. "Now I know why ah had to run away," he told me, "an' what ah was meant to do with mah talents..."
Of course, for those readers with a limited sense of time, locked into one single timeline out of an infinity of possible timelines, these remarks will seem to be sheerest lunacy. For those pitiable people, I can only explain that the Tales of the Mare Inebrium will come as an unacceptable shock to their tiny intellects.
The future is fluid, as is the present, only the past is fixed and immutable-- since it has been recorded for posterity.

I am very saddened that, in a modern enlightened age we call the 21st century, the people who speak the loudest are those who will slag Michael off because he is different.
In a time when racism and sexism and taunts about sexuality, religion and creed are rightly condemned, what right do you think you have to revile Michael Jackson for being different?
Yes, he's "weird", no doubt about that. Sure, he's 'off the wall' - but the way the tabloid press in the U.K. has been reporting on the interview, you'd think that Michael Jackson's credit card details had been found on the same list as Pete Townsend's and Gary Glitters.
I have an absolute conviction that Michael Jackson is THE most talented person to walk our planet. No one can move, sing or write songs like him. In an effort to back track on their disgusting slur on his character ITV broadcast his 30th anniversary concert in full. It brought tears to my eyes to see Michael on stage with his brothers.
Sure, you can laugh because he's white and they're black - there must be an "ism" for people like you.
You're nothing more than playground bullies, picking on the weakest child because it makes you feel big.
That interview was more about Mr Martin "I interviewed Diana" Bashir than it was about Michael Jackson. Such comments as "I began to become concerned" are utter BS - you didn't become concerned about anything Bashir!
Michael Jackson invited that man into his private life - and Bashir abused that hospitality. That is a disgrace.
Do I think it's right for a 44 year old man to be sharing a room and/or bed with a 12 year old boy? Probably not, but that doesn't mean there's anything disgusting about it - let alone sexual. My children share my bed all the time, that doesn't make me a paedophile.
What Michael Jackson possesses is the gift to see things in their purest form - he genuinely can't understand why everyone doesn't want to ride around hotel corridors on invalid bikes (come on guys, admit it, that would be fun!) - he is still a child at heart.
Forgive him his sins. I sincerely hope that the man has some friends who will teach him something about interview politics before he invites a rattlesnake like Bashir into his home again.
As for the children and the veils ...if you were Michael Jackson, would you want people to know what your children looked like? For those of you who live in the UK, you only have to think about the agony Posh and Becks go through - then multiply it by about a thousand.
Leave the man alone, for all his money he is less fortunate than you - you have your freedom.
Michael Jackson - the greatest artist of ours or any other generation.

Ah Peter, you obviously speak from a biased perspective.
"Greatest"?, hmm, I think he is simply thee most excentric artist/entertainer we have today, likable?, childlike? simple? possibly, but I would reserve 'greatest' for other more deserving individuals.
However, I feel that Mr Basir certainly went for the jugular over some issues, uneccesarily so.
Mr Basir appeared to me to be sensationalizing rather than being honest.
Personally, the 'Michael Jackson' image I picked up from the interview was of a 44 yr old man who had never been allowed to have a normal childhood and so in consequence of his fame has now the finances to live a life of fantasy. Jackson is now able to live the childhood he was denied by his father.
I honestly think that Michael Jackson is neither mentally able nor physically capable of 'inteferring with little boys'. That possibility was much too overplayed by Mr Basir and I think his nack of overplaying the issue was a low point in an otherwise amusingly interesting focus on a most likeable, excentric entertainer around today.
I do not particularly like Michael Jackson's records but I like 'media-vultures' even less.

Listen, Michael's not right in the head--why else totally destroy your face like that? He seems to be on a downward spiral lately, probably not thru his own fault. I don't think Michael has anybody looking out for him, probably just a bunch of sycophants who'll end up killing him, like Elvis was killed. I feel sorry for the poor guy. Remember when we thought he was weird for hanging out with Bubbles (the chimp, not Jane Horrocks)? Pretty tame stuff now.
I've never really been a Michael Jackson fan, however. Some Jackson Five stuff appeals to me.

In the interests of pedantry, Jane Horrocks' character is of course 'Bubble' (singular). Strangely enough, we used to go to the same hairdresser (Leonardo's on Upper St Islington if you must know). I will never forget her dashing in one day, flusteredly squeaking 'can yer fit me in for a fehhhhhhhshul?'.
She's actually very cute in person. I would have no problem 'fitting her in for a facial'.

I'm not a Jackson apologist (not a fan of his), but I remember when this case was all over the news. My impression is that this was a money grab on the part of the boy's father. If you were the father of a molested child, would be you content with an out of court settlement? Sure we're talking about millions of dollars, but aren't some things just not for sale?

While the smoking gun article is disturbing to say the least, I was struck by the statement that they slept together in the boys mothers home, or did I read that wrong? Why was she not brought up on charges? The father went straight to civil court (money) it was the state of calif. that thought of criminal charges.No, I'm not apologising for Jacko but it makes you wonder about the fathers priorities.
