Casebook Message Boards: General Discussion: Miscellaneous: CRYSTAL BALL TIME.....
Author: Howard Brown Sunday, 29 December 2002 - 12:08 pm | |
....Its just about that time to ring in a New Year. That means its time for Fat Boy and all the rest of us to wipe off our crystal balls and make predictions for 2003.....It doesn't have to be Ripper-related........Lemme see....I predict that within the next year,Patricia Cornwell's suspect will be put to rest. Either someone will be able to place Mr.Sickert in another location at the time of one of the killings OR she will derail it herself....your turn:

My predictions: Cornwell won't derail Sickert as a suspect, as she'd rather die than admit she was wrong. As Sickert has already quite conclusively been placed in France at the time, perhaps next year people will start catching on. I predict that the Virginia crime lab workers who assisted Cornwell will get disciplined for some lapse in professionalism in letting themselves be involved in the private effort. Someone in California will do their masters thesis in media criticism on how the TV show Three's Company with the male living with first two and then replacement female rommates was actually intended to be a veiled comparison to Jack the Ripper and the prostitutes. A videogame company will announce a first person slice-em-up with authentic 3-D graphics in which a historically inaccurate medical doctor Jack the Ripper slices and dices prostitutes, policemen and assorted passersby for points. This will be another example used by Senator Lieberman to create laws restricting entertainment. The woman who claims that she had repressed memories of her father with the Black Dahlia will claim that she has just recently unrepressed memories of her grandfather admitting to being Jack. The Raelians will claim to have cloned Jack the Ripper as a paid gig initiated by Dracula's interest in the project. The latest Ripper secret message to the world theory will claim that the exact order of the cuts on the victims, when reproduced on paper, is actually the physics formula proving that the speed of light is a constant. David Radka will finally get permanently banned from the boards. Sales of the Casebook CD will skyrocket when someone reports finding a folder containing personal pics of Ally on the beach. Someone will post proof that the doctor looking for organs was not Tumblety. The Halloween episode of Crossing Over with John Edwards will feature the psychic claiming to be in touch with Jack the Ripper, and that he was a painter. Cornwell will gloat. More people will start to realize that they are both frauds. Predictions #1. No one will offer proof that the doctor looking for uteri wasn't Tumblety. In all likelihood, the doctor visiting from Philadelphia in 1887 wasn't Wynne Baxter's doctor. #2. David will offer a brilliant argument that Sir Robert Anderson was the unwitting victim of a conspiracy, and that the Whitechapel murders were an 'Act of Revenge'= A.R. 'M' will be a key player. #3. The fans of FBI profiling will abandoned the boards when it is conclusively shown that the Whitechapel murderer was not a 25-35 year-old white working-class male living in the East End.

Predictions 1.) We go to war against Iraq and win in three hours. 2.) I win the lottery and fly to London, see all the sites, give Stewart and Keith Skinner 6 million bucks to go research, and get my own TLC special. 3.) How small are we talking here? Who's going to measure? And I think it does count, Dan. 4.) Cornwell gets heckled by a disgruntled Casebook reader and starts to cry on camera, screaming that she lied, she made it all up, and I win my argument with Caz. 5.) Ally and Spryder get another dog. 6.) RJ is disappointed, cause this fan of FBI profiling ain't going anywhere. 7.) Somebody finds the "Lusk" letter and gives it back to the PRO. That's the short list. I could've thought of more but I have a cold and it's 1 in the morning. B

Mr. Radka, Your message to Mr. Norder is a little on the tasteless side. And please don't jump up and down a lot; I'll cry Uncle right now. But yuck! Paula

Brian, Regarding #3, would sworn written testimonials count or is there going to be some special organization set up to verify results under controlled conditions? The possibility that the Lusk letter will come back is a good thought. Let's hope that most of the documents that "wandered off" come back. Radka.......You've had ample time to remove the "mom-joke" level response to Dan....Is that the best a Nietzschean scholar ( yeah...and I'm Baruch Spinoza...) can come up with?

ooh ooh...prediction time....ok here goes. 1. The England cricket team will win a test match against Australia. 2. A top Hollywood actor will be murdered in very strange circumstances during the filming of another 'Blockbuster'. 3. The Pope will be taken ill and a new Pope will be installed amid a lot of confusion. 4. The UK will be gripped in the summer by the showing of hardcore porn at primetime, it'll break viewing records and there'll be many complaints...mainly from people who thought it was far too short a show. 5. Patricia Cornwell will prove beyond all doubt that she was right all along. Ok so I got a bit silly there for a while...as if England could beat the Aussies at cricket take care Garry

OK Predictions 1. There will be yet another film about the Ripper featuring the 'Royal conspiracy theory' 2. Someone will write a ripper book based on no evidence and a single premise. P.C. will sue claiming she had the idea first. 3. Mr R from England will claim an ancestor was the ripper in order to get his genealogy studies completed free. 4. There will be a Ripperologist convention the culmination of which will be John Edwards producing the man himself. 5. The case will be solved. It will be a drunken London docker who was getting back at the wife cos she burned his dinner again and we will have wasted our time for the last 115 years. 6 I will win the lottery (Well I can hope!!!!)

Well, looks like my first one may come true after all. England have set Australia a massive task to avoid defeat in the final Ashes Test at the SCG. After posting 452-9 declared in their second innings, England reduced the hosts to 91-3 at stumps, leaving them needing to score 361 more on the final day. Dammit! take care Garry

Diva, Only a true Saint fan would know the term who dat. Howard, My two favorite teams....The Saints and whomever is playing the Falcons. I foresee the Eagles and Da Rayduhs in the big one. Also, here's a hint..... Michael Vick has a way of tipping off the defense. Watch his legs. If it is a running or playaction his left leg is behind him. If it is a drop back pass his right leg is behind him. Peace, Scott PS....The Buccaneers are really begining to annoy me too.

Prediction: One year from now it will be generally accepted, if not proven, that Walter Sickert wrote at least two the Jack the Ripper letters. It will also be proven, conclusively, that due to an air-tight alibi, he could not have committed at least one of the murders. Thus, Patricia Cornwell will be seen as someone who made a major contribution to the case and its studies - but will be seen as out of her depth when it comes to historical research. Regards, Rich

Hi Dan, You posted a prediction: "I predict that the Virginia crime lab workers who assisted Cornwell will get disciplined for some lapse in professionalism in letting themselves be involved in the private effort." Are you suggesting a government crime lab or employees did research on Cornwell's behalf? This is a sincere question - I could be totally misinformed. I believe all of the DNA data was processed at VFI - which is a private institute which features Cornwell and her book on their website. If others did this research, with government support, unauthorized and unfunded, I would join you in saying those who participated should be disciplined. Rich

Virginia crime lab = VFI. Lapse of professionalism = already covered elsewhere. Trying to argue the same things over and over on multiple threads = Pointless. There are some things money can't buy. Hi All, Predictions: 1: I will have returned to the board, and no one will remember me. 2: Someone will write a NEW Ripper Letter signing it as Walter Sickert and P.C. will claim that NOT only is this proof that Sickert IS the Ripper, but also that he is still alive and well and planning on continuing his work. 3: We will find out that Sickert is alive because the Raellins Cloned him. Which they will then promote with T-Shirts that display 'I was a Serial Killing Painter and Now an Alien Clone, and all I got was this Lousy T-Shirt'. 4: P.C. will have a debte with the Sickert Clone eventually driving the Clone to confess that the Original Sickert posted several Hoax Ripper Letters. 5: Two months after the above debate, P.C. will then spend several Million Dollars to prove without a reasonable doubt that the Sickert Clone is actually a Hoax.(Like we didn't know this already.) And thus standing by her original theory that Sickert was truly the Ripper. 6: A new theory will come out that the Ripper was not Sickert but actually Robert Louis Stephenson in a protest over his 'The Strange Case of Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde' tale being placed in the theaters without his permission.(After all he did write a couple stories about Killers and Ritual Murders so he has to be the Killer right? Hey if it works for Sickert...) 7: People will stone me for starting that Rumor, eventhough I did it in jest, because it will not only spawn endless Books, Debates, TV Specials, Theatrical Presentations, and even yet another Hollywood Flop, but also a Muscial entitled 'Dr. Ripper and Mr. Stephenson'.(Well just as long as Hasselhoff isn't called upon for the Lead, I'm sure it won't be THAT bad!) Adios, Chris H.
