Probably the most contentious Lees related evidence. Two pages from his dairy for 1888 in the week following the "double event"

Intriguing letter from scotland Yard to Lees in 1898. The letter is dated 29 September 98 and transcribes as follows: Sir, I have been directed by Mr Anderson Director of Criminal Investigation Dept (Scotland Yard) to call on you and thank you for your kind offer of assistance re anarchists and to say that he will avail of the offer to the fullest. With this object I am instructed to address to the matter and would like to see you previous to next meeting night or say at your house at 7 pm on Saturday night subject of course to your convenience. If you can or other suitable arrangement if you would be good enough to drop me a line I will be delighted to attend to it. Yours etc F.Powell.

I have never thought that there was any particular significance in Lees' diary entries regarding JTR. He was but one of many, many psychics and others who volunteered their `skills' or offered suggestions to the police, and I am sure that in some attics somewhere lie other diaries of other mediums with similar notes. The date of the first entry is perhaps significant in that, if my memory of the JTR chronology serves me correctly, this I think would be the day after the newspapers reported that a substantial reward had been offered for information leading to the apprehension of JTR? By the way, the images that Mr Scott has posted above, come from my website which he has now been kind enough to credit! Best wishes, Stephen Butt.
