This page is old. It was used to promote John J Eddleston's 'Jack the Ripper: An Encyclopedia'
The hardcover was published in 2001, and the unrevised paperback at the end of last year.

As usual great links. The geneology page is very useful, not just for Jack hunters but myself. I have been trying to trace my father's family, I was kept from them, apparently they were a bad bunch. I didn't know them. The family does originate in England and this site is sure a useful one for me. Who knows, my great grandfather may have known jack, or been him (HA)
The pictures were great too. I went back to the home page and they had some interesting before & after pictures, etc. Keep them coming. Thank you for your great imput and obviously hard work and time consumed in arranging same for us.

Hi all
Just found a contemporary newspaper reference I had not seen before. It's in a provincial American paper called the Scranton Republican and the issue for Friday, July 19, 1889 has this comment in its editorial:
"That ten murders could be successively committed, in the same manner, in the same locality, and evidently by the same person, in a city like London, would seem incredible were not at hand to prove that it has been done. The Whitechapel fields, calling himself "Jack the Ripper", has just added his tenth victim to the list."

Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park
Interesting page - this cemetery contains the following graves:
1) The grave of Dr Ralph Rees Llewellyn
2) The graves of a number of victims of the Princess Alice disaster
3) the grave of Alfred Linnell, killed in the 1887 demonstration for which Warren is renowned
4) PC Ernest Thompson whic found the body of Frances Coles
5) Intriguingly, there is also a Druitt family grave. These Druitts are described as "local stonemasons" who carved many of the memorials in the cemetery |

Thanks for those links.
The James Druitt mentioned on the Dorset life web page is Montague's uncle.
As for the Druitts in Tower Hamlets cemetery, Jabez Druitt, a mason, lived in Mile End Road at the time of the murders, and the Druitt Papers at West Sussex Record Office do show that he was in correspondence with the family of Montague's uncle, Dr Robert Druitt, although there's no indication that he was a close relation. |
