Casebook Message Boards: General Discussion: General Topics: Maps in Eddleston's, 'Jack the Ripper: An Encyclopedia'
Author: Chris Hintzen Sunday, 17 February 2002 - 04:54 pm | |
Hi All, I promised to do this for everyone a WHILE back, this is just the first chance I had to actually do it. I was commenting on how GREAT the maps in John H. Eddleston's book 'Jack the Ripper: An Encyclopedia' were, and well everyone kept asking me for them. So here goes. Hopefully they come out, and I do hope it is all right that I post them. Sincerely, Chris H.

Ok, here's the Map of Polly Nichol's murder site. If the detail doesn't come out TOO bad, you might be able to make out the little dots marked along the sidewalks. These are marked as lamp posts or wall mounted lamps. Grrrr...ok, is it just me or is the board not asking anyone else for a picture upload? I'm using IE 6, so I know I got Form-Based File Uploads...any ideas what's wrong guys?

Hi, Chris: The size of the file you are trying to post may be too big. Check the parameters of the size of the file allowable per the instructions against the size of the file and you may find that is the reason you are having trouble posting it. Best regards Chris George

Hi Chris: Well the size may be too big. However, I was never even prompted to upload the file in the first place, so the board wouldn't be able to tell if the image is too big. I'll probably have to email Allegria to find out what's going on.(Although I hate to bug her, since I know she is VERY busy.) Anybody have any other ideas why the board won't prompt me for the upload? Thanks again Chris. Sincerely, Chris H.

Hi, I'm not a computer expert, but wouldn't it be possible for anyone out there to programme an "attachment"-button or so and send it to the casebook to let them include it? Sorry if this is rubbish (technically, as I said, I'm no PC-freak). Christian ( On the other hand: More people would post more pictures, could get quite jammed here )

Hi, Chris You may send the image to me and I shall reduce it till an acceptable size. As to the reason it is possible that in the Board's database there is a restriction on the maximal size of images. All best, Stepan

Hiya Stepan, I'll get around to sending you the images this Sunday. Things are a little too hectic here right now, so hopefully Sunday I will have time to do it then. Thanks, Chris H.
