Casebook Message Boards: General Discussion: Research Issues / Philosophy: Police Oil Lamps and Gas Lighting
Author: Simon Owen Wednesday, 29 November 2000 - 03:15 pm | |
Is it possible for someone to provide information on the police oil lamp of the 1880s , worn at the belt or carried in the hand. I particularly want to know about the strength of the beam and how much it might illuminate at 50-70 ft away ( this is a direct reference to PC Harvey and the Mitre Square killing ). Simon

This board can also be used to post ( technical ) information about the gas street lighting current in the East End of the 1880s , or indeed of the street lighting elsewhere.
