I wouldn't worry bout it Suzi. I'm still trying to get over Monty comparing himself to Slim Shady here. (Still we all know what he wants for Xmas now) I don't understand this thread!! "Does a 'ton up' on his sleigh? Do the fairies keep him sober for a day?"

Jen, Re. your Christmas sig - I always thought it was "Does it tug upon his sleigh", the "it" being the red-nosed reindeer mentioned in the preceding line of the song. |

Gareth, It's definitely "Does a 'ton-up'.." We have Jon Smyth to thank for that. He probably got it from Google, tho'. Love, Lyn x My first reaction is, "OMG that's crazy". But then I'm thinking this just may be crazy enough to work. copyright © Bradley McGinnis Sept. 2005

Problem solved, lol Still back to the subject of this thread, or not Jenni "Does your granny always tell ya that the old songs are the best? Then she's up and rock 'n' rollin' with the rest?"

Lindsey, Jen - It's definitely "Does a 'ton-up'.." ... "Problem solved" Can't say it is. By far the greatest number of Google hits I found gave the lyric as "Does he turn up on his sleigh?". Huwe/Hewe cares anyway? Seems we both misheard. Call it a draw. I think "ton-up" was a lovely example of a Mondegreen. http://www.sfgate.com/columnists/carroll/mondegreens.shtml |

Another inspiring post from an unregistered guest! I thought the whole idea of registering was to stop this kind of rubbish. "For lower standards to prevail it is only necessary for those with standards to do nothing" Bob |
