William Alfred Field, a 60 year old gardener, was charged with being drunk and disorderly between 1 and 2 o'clock on the morning of Saturday 24 November 1888. He had scared various women in the Westminster Bridge Road, by chasing them while shouting, 'I'm Jack the Ripper'. He was sentenced to fourteen days hard labour.
