THIRSTING FOR JACK
Threats of Lynching by the London Mob

SADLER IS IN CUSTODY

THE POLICE ARREST THE SAILOR SUSPECT

London, Feb. 16.
The police have in custody a man named Sadler who was a fireman on the steamer which arrived from Turkey and who they have no doubt killed Carroty Nell. An ugly looking knife stained with blood has been traced to Sadler. The station where Sadler was confined was surrounded by an immense crowd of people mostly women. Wild threats of lynching and tearing the prisoner to pieces were uttered by the most excited females. When the man was removed to the court an immense force of police was employed and every precaution was necessary to prevent lynching. Opinions differ as to whether he is the murderer known as Jack the Ripper.
