Why has nobody written about Lewis? She's not even in the Witnesses section! Is this because every one just accepts that she saw George Hutchinson and not the Ripper. (If she didn't in fact see both in the one person). Does anybody know what exactly she said in her testimony? |

Hi Pfc, Sarah Lewis claimed to be visiting a friend that lived at 2 Miller's Court. She claimed to see a man opposite the lodging house. She said he seemed to be waiting for someone. Further down she saw a man and a woman talking. The woman was worst for drink. She was disturbed by a cry of murder around 3:45. You can read her testimony when you read the Kelly inquest. I think she does comfirm George Hutchinson's story and she seems to comfirm Prater's claim that she heard a cry of murder around halve past three. I feel Kelly was attacked around 3:45. The odd thing is Lewis and Hutchinson's man or men was seen a full hour before I believe Kelly was attacked. Could she have gone back out after three? Could the ripper have broke in her room while she was sleeping or do you think that it is possible that the ripper spent an hour with Kelly before he killed her? However, Lewis and Hutchinson may not have seen Kelly that night. Witnesses often get times wrong. I believe that lewis saw Hutchinson and I believe that she was looking at the same couple that George claimed was Kelly and the stranger. I believe that Pratter and Lewis heard a cry of murder around 3:45 and I believe that cry came from Kelly. I am not sure if Sarah or Hutchinson saw the ripper. I do not feel that George was the ripper and I might point out that Abberline believed Hutchinson initially. Your friend,CB |
