Some interesting graphs that help to illustrate the truly mammoth post-1987 explosion of interest in the Ripper case. The first graph depicts the number of non-fictional Ripper publications released each year (peak year was 1987 with 11 publications): The second depicts the total number of non-fictional Ripper publications released, in aggregate, by year (total publications as of 2003: 128): In 1986, your Ripper collection would have been absolutely complete with just 29 volumes. Today, you'd need a bit more shelf space to hold all 128 volumes published to date.

Fascinating stuff!!! I really love this kind of info. Out of curiosity: Who has the biggest Ripper collection here (non-fiction)? I personally have (only?) 30. I am sure some folks out here have far more. Holger |
