It's been mentioned elsewhere in this forum that there's an episode of the unbroadcast US televison series The Veil, hosted by Boris Karloff, which features the Ripper. However, I've read on some other sites that the Ripper segment was bought in from the UK. Does anyone know the origin of this episode? It was written by Michael Plant and directed by David MacDonald, both active in British tv of the time. And it starred Niall MacGinnis - more famous from his starring role in Night of the Demon. |

Hi, I just watched this series on DVD and was going to post about it, but of course it's already here! It's worth a watch for anyone who's a fan of 1950's supernatural stuff: cheesy production but very sincere. The Ripper portion is okay if you can suspend disbelief and go with it as fiction, but how many of us can do that? My biggest laugh: The psychic around which the story revolves goes to the police to report his premonition of the Buck's Row murder and asks for the detective in charge. The reply: "Oh, that would be McWilliams." Who? Anyway, a fun bit of fluff, and the other episodes are a lot of fun, with Karloff playing a different role in each. -K
