When inspector Abberline went to Monte Carlo for Pickerton's National Detective Agency was a passport required of him? If so, would it contain his photo? Nina |

Hi Nina, Good thought, but I don't think it will work. I was reading an article in The Oberver on Sunday which contained the following "AJP Taylor [an eminent historian in his day] once wrote: Until August 1914 a sensible law abiding Englishman could pass through life and hardly notice the existence of the state, beyond the post office and the policemen. He could live were he liked and as he liked. He had no official number or identity card. He could travel abroad or leave his country for ever without a passport or any sort of official permission." Ah, those were the days! Best Regards John Savage |

Hi John, Thanks for the info. Ah, those were the days! I'll say, Now you can't even enter a public building without having an ID and most times your still searched. I always set off the metal detector. Nina |
