Thomas Cutbush died in Broadmoor in 1903. He must be buried somewhere but where exactly? AP Wolf has stated here that it was probably in the vicinity of the hospital/prison but Chris Scott has discovered that the registration of the death was made in a place called Easthampstead in Berkshire which is a long way from Broadmoor. I had never heard of this place before. It would seem to have been once a village that is now part of the town of Bracknell. Easthampstead's website boasts of what seems like a very nice park and a very nice school but more importantly for here, a very nice cemetary which would seem to be the main one for that area. Might it be just possible that Thomas was buried there for reasons as yet unknown and would it be possible to find out if he was buried there?

My impression, from what I read, was that the inmates of Broadmoor had to be buried in the asylum cemetary, and under no circumstances would the body be released to relatives.

The problems that Marian encountered should not have happened, as close relatives are actually encouraged to contact the asylum, they just have to make sure they contact the right person.
We posted his name some time ago.

Nice to see you back, Robert.
Thought you might have fallen down the stairs.

AP, I have decided when the time comes, to fall up the stairs - it's safer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._W._C._Minor

This man had been in Broadmoor for some time, before in 1902 he cut of his own penis.

Perhaps he met and talked with Thomas?

I live near Easthampstead, Bracknell basically (for sins comitted in a past life - and they must have been quite bad) ... is there anything I can do locally to follow this up? J

Sorry, I've just realised that Broadmoor is indeed very close to Easthampsted and I was being an idiot.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadmoor_Hospital

Every monday a siren is sounded as a test - its used for escaped prisoners once in a blue moon, and it can easily be heard in Bracknell - and Crowthorne - just next to Easthampsted.

So "place called Easthampstead in Berkshire which is a long way from Broadmoor" is wrong...its very close indeed :-)

Josh

Very interesting reading material indeed. Never heard of him before though. Is he possibly the newest suspect, I wonder?

regards
Julie

Hi Josh

Well, if you see a gravestone with "Thomas Hayne Cutbush" written on it, you might post a photo. But he's probably in the asylum cemetery.

Robert
