I came across mention today of an alleged suspect named Henry G Dowd who was not only suspected of the Old Shakespeare murder but also of the London killings: A sample of the article is: Here is a sketch of Dowd: I will post the whole article when it is transcribed |

Hi Chris, Ah, yes, "Jack the Slasher." His crimes didn't really seem to have much in common with Carrie Brown's death or the Ripper murders, but you never can tell. I look forward to seeing the full text of the article. Dan Norder, Editor Ripper Notes: The International Journal for Ripper Studies Profile Email Dissertations Website

"You never can tell." Actually, in this case, you can tell. The allegations against Dowd lasted only about 24 hours; the next day these stories fizzled when it was discovered that Dowd had been under lock and key at the time of the Brown murder. |
