From the efforts of Nina Thomas...

Here’’s a little info on Dr. Kelburne King, of Hull, who treated RDS after he was shot.
IGI listing: Murdock Kelburn King married Mary Burrell - 24 Dec.1850 - Glasgow, Renfrew, Scotland
They are listed in the 1861, 1871, and 1881 census for Sculcoates (Surgeon MD FRCS)
Death -1886 - March quarter - Sculcoates - Murdoch Kelburne King - Age 63 - Volume 9d page 127
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh - GD4/202 - 1863, June 30th - Letter of testimony presented by Kelburne King FRCSEd supporting Struthers candidature for the Chair of Anatomy, Aberdeen University.
*************************************************

This Dr. King was born in either 1823 or 1822.

He would have been 45 or 46 in 1868.

1868 is the year in which Stephenson possibly contracted venereal disease....of which sort,we don't know,if in fact he actually did.

Nina brought up the suggestion that perhaps this Dr. King tended to Stephenson after he was shot on board the Flying Scud in Flamborough, evidence of which was proven by Andy Aliffe, may be the same doctor who may have treated him in that same year for this alleged venereal disease.......

Thanks for that Howard. He is a very interesting character , Stephenson, especially his background.
BTW is Nina OK?We havent heard from her "in person" now for many months-always looked forward to her beautifully presented posts and thought her research on "The Thimble" was fascinating!

Natalie

Howard is obviously using hypnotic will-power - a la Charles Gray in "The Devil Rides Out" - to force poor Nina to garner all this info.

Beware dark powers.
