Have just unearthed a receipt dated 25th June 1866 for a Lady Walnut Wood Dressing Case for five guineas less five shillings for ready money. It was bought of Parkins & Gotto, paper and envelope makers 24 & 25, Oxford Street, London. It was delivered to Mrs.Drewitt (sic) of 37 Hartford Street, Mayfair. This Mrs.Druitt was the mother of Emily. This address (a very good one) was just off the Hide Park Corner end of Park Lane, not so far from Cavendish Square where Crawford lived. (See Stephen Ryder's dissertation on Emily and the Bibliophile).

Re: posting on Emily Druitt.

Two glaring spelling mistakes:-
Hartford St. should read Hertford St. and Hide Park should read Hyde Park.

My Great Great Grandfather James Tilford was a Butler and died of pneumonia at 37 Hertford Street aged 31 on the 8th April 1875. The Doctor was Gwelland Makenzie.
