Folks, For those who are interested. In todays (12/7/04) G2 Guardian there is an article on Sickert and the Ripper connection. All to do with an exhibition of his work at Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Kendall. Ends 30th October. Monty

To save 55p, click here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/features/story/0,11710,1258953,00.html [the commas in the link seem to have foxed this site's software, so you'll have to copy the above and paste it into your browser's address bar] Oddly written - either the author or the subeditor seems to have succumbed to temptation in pitching the article - Walter Sickert was Jack the Ripper? Ridiculous, thought Jonathan Jones - until he visited a new exhibition of his work - while determined to keep possession of the moral high ground in accusing Cornwell of a "ludicrous libel".
