From the Te Aroha News (News Zealand) which carried a regular letter from a correspondent named only as Elise. The extract below gives an impression of Whitechapel at the time and, more interestingly, tells of one Tom who attended the Stride inquest and his impressions of it. It says he attended the inquest "on business" but in what capacity is not clear
