I am currently transcribing some articles from the Morning Advertiser (October 1st 1888) and have seen two references in there to Stride being being identified as one "Annie Morris". I don't remember seeing this mistaken identification before Chris

Chris, She is mentioned in the A to Z. It cites a story in the Yorkshire Post and the story is much the same as the one you have posted. Don. "He was so bad at foreign languages he needed subtitles to watch Marcel Marceau."
