Thomas Stuart Drew

From Edward Walker's inquest testimony on Mary Ann Nicholls as reported in the Morning Advertiser:
The Coroner - Has she ever lived with anybody since she left her husband?

The marriage of Thomas Drew was registered as follows:
March 1866 - Lambeth
Thomas S Drew and Matilda Pond
Vol 1d Page 370

Thomas' marital history is not straighforward. Im 1871 and 1881 his wife is listed as Matilda Drew, née Pond (see above). In 1881 she is listed as 32 years of age. By 1891 his wife is listed as Elizabeth Drew aged 37.
There is a death registered for a Matilda Drew of the correct age as follows:
Deaths: March 1884
St Saviour Southwark
Matilda Drew aged 35
Vol 1d Page 127
He must therefore have married Elizabeth drew at some time between early 1884 and the time of the census in 1891. And indeed we find the marriage listed as follows:
Marriages: December 1886
St Saviour Southwark
Thomas Stewart Drew and Eliza Barvan or Beryan
Vol 1d 327
His second wife's death is registered as follows:
Deaths: December 1896
Richmond Surrey
Elizabeth Drew aged 43
Vol 2a Page 257

It could be assumed that if Drew had a liaison with Mary Ann Nicholls it would have been most likely in this period between his two marriages i.e. between March 1884 and December 1886.
