For anyone interested, this is the position of Clarkes Yard in Poplar High Street. This is Poplar High Street, showing the position of the enlarged detail. It isn't very clear, but it is the only way I can fit the whole street in. Rob |

Robert, Thanks for displaying these maps. So I can get my bearings, how far away and in which direction is a familiar landmark from the murders eg. Miller's Court. Also, are you aware of any detailed descriptions of Clarke's Yard, ie. lighting, was it locked, was it in daily use, hours used, any structures, was it just for storage, any horses stabled etc. I still think there are many unanswered questions about Rose's death. Regards Neale |

Hi Neale I hope this gives you some idea, and it comes through clear enough. Millers Court is just under three miles. The only details I know about Clarkes Yard, are what I obtained from the press reports section. There were no gates at the entrance so anyone could come and go. The yard has been described as a builders yard and local traders had workshops in the yard. So there would be a lot of people coming in and out during the day. I think I read somewhere the place was used by local prostitutes, but I can't confirm that. No mention of lighting, a press report said the yard was dark and neglected, some residential places overlooked the yard. Whether there were any wall lamps I don't know. I agree there are to many unanswered questions regarding Rose, unfortunatly we can't say for certain even if she was murdered. All the best Rob |
