on December 31 1888 The Newark Daily Advocate published a resume of the events of the year including the list below of the Whitechapel murders. This makes the interesting comment that Stride was just dead but Eddowes had been dead some hours when found. Although wrong, this would explain the comment I have ssen in some press reports that Stride was not the first victim of the night
