Hello, An illustrated version of the book is available online at: http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/London/Writings/PeopleOfTheAbyss/ I apologise if this is redundant info, but a search of the current boards/site produced no mention of this. Having read a paperback version, I was astonished to find that this online version (scanned from the original edition?) contains photographs. Included are plenty of East End pictures, including those of several lodging houses (inc. Victoria Home), Dorset Street (the photo familiar from several JTR books) as well as of Jack (London) himself going hop-picking in his eastender's guise. The pics are quite small, but as they seem to be hard to come by, they're definitely worth squinting at. As sunsite's copyright statement says that "Copying is permitted for noncommercial use by computerized bulletin board/conference systems", perhaps these pics could be used on the Casebook site as well. Regards, Jake

Hi. I know this was posted a long tome ago, but I wanted to offer thanks for it, as this topic is part of the Baltimore convention and I wanted to read up on it. Others might want to do the same. Thanks! |
